Alpha
Alpha is a practical 10-week introductory course
to the Christian faith, suitable for spiritually searching people, new
Christians, and seasoned Christians who want to get back to the basics. It
was designed and launched at Holy Trinity Brompton, an Anglican Church in
England,
home of the Alpha program. Check out
the official world Alpha Headquarters to get lots of information on the history,
organization, and impact of this wonderful Christian course.
All are welcome and past participants are encouraged to
invite friends and family as well. Those interested are encouraged to
register online at the
Alpha Canada website (scroll to the bottom) or via
the church office.
The course is offered by many Christian
denominations throughout the world. Course information in the Ottawa-Hull area
can be found at the
Ottawa Alpha Office.
The
Alpha Canada Office offers information on
courses across Canada. Alpha is light-hearted
and interesting, providing a non-threatening atmosphere for fellowship and
learning.
Do you have a desire to see people come to faith in
Jesus Christ? Would you like to do it through the Alpha ministry?
St. George's offers Alpha courses throughout the year. By creating a safe
place for people to come and ask their questions about Christianity,
Alpha provides a way for seekers to explore the faith in a
non-threatening way.
ALPHA NEEDS YOU!
The Alpha ministry needs people who can:
-
pray faithfully
-
prepare meals
-
help in the kitchen
-
lead worship
-
lead small group discussions
You don't necessarily have to make a commitment for the entire length of a
course, or for the next course, to be involved in some of these
activities. Some involve only a couple of hours; others can be once a
week for the ten weeks of the course. Volunteers are
available to explain the work involved, and to help you determine
whether this ministry is right for you. If you're interested in helping,
please contact David and
Minna via the church office.
